If you get the contents of a Shawarma Palace wrap all over your lap, at least now you'll know it's coming from Ottawa's Best Donair or Shawarma.

The store's two locations on Rideau Street near downtown Ottawa and Carling Avenue near Richmond Road have been voted the best servers of what some consider a signature Ottawa dish.

"Being generous, being fresh, good quality serving, trying to serve people what you would want to eat," said Mike Sobh, who bought into the business with his uncle. "Our recipe here is generosity, we're generous with our portions. . . nothing is ordered or canned."

The Rideau Street location has been serving up shawarma for 14 years.

The other nominees were Castle Shawarma on Rideau Street, Centretown Donair and Pizza on Bronson Avenue, La Shish in Nepean, Marroush International Shawarma on Rideau Street, Shawarma King on Bank Street and Topkapi Turkish Restaurant in Ottawa's Little Italy.

Next week is the final week for CTV's Best of Ottawa contest, and it's also a messy food.

Nominations can now be submitted for Ottawa's Best Poutine until Monday evening, with the top nominees announced Tuesday, Sept. 6.

Watch the CTV News at 6 Friday, Sept. 9 to find out the winner.
