A western Quebec judge has released a cellblock video that shows a Gatineau police officer allegedly assaulting a female prisoner.
The video is evidence in the trial of Sgt. Francois Metlej, accused of punching 22-year-old Leslie Bayard-Aikman in April 2010.
The video shows officers taking her to a cell and removing her handcuffs, before turning to leave.
It's at that point one officer turns around and appears to punch the inmate.
The court was told that Bayard-Aikman spat towards the officer, and that's why she was hit.
She was in jail for allegedly assaulting her girlfriend.
Metlej's trial resumes Dec. 9.
