Train passengers travelling along the Toronto-Ottawa-Montreal line are back on schedule according to VIA Rail.

The rail company says all service has returned to normal following a CN freight train collision with a compact car near Trenton, Wednesday.

Officials say the car seemed to have been parked on the tracks at the time of the incident. The male driver of the car was killed on impact.

The collision caused hundreds of VIA Rail passengers to experience delays.
