Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash on Colonel By Drive early Saturday.

The crash happened just before 1 a.m. south of Laurier Avenue.

Firefighters arrived on the scene to find one occupant of the vehicle still trapped inside, while the other had been ejected.

Both were pronounced dead on the scene.

The deceased have been identified by friends as 48-year-old Daniel Larocque and 25-year-old Angela Williams. They had been a couple for several years.

"Angela had a smile that could light up a room," friend Seona Stroz.

Williams shared an apartment with a friend on Riverside Drive. Larocque had a home in Orleans.

The couple recently took a vacation to South Africa together.

"They were both fantastic to be around," said Stroz. "They were both young at heart."

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
