Two Ottawa teens are facing charges after a stolen vehicle crashed into a tree and stopped just shy of a home following a police chase in the capital Monday morning.

Ottawa police say officers spotted the red Chrysler Intrepid near Bank Street and Walkley Road at about 11 a.m. Monday. Police say the same vehicle was reported stolen following a break-in in the city's west end earlier that day.

When the driver failed to stop, police say they chased the vehicle a short distance before the driver struck a tree and stopped near a house on Anoka Street, located near Bank Street and Heron Road.

A passenger in the vehicle was arrested, while the driver fled on foot. That suspect was arrested a short time later.

Samuel Berlinguette, 19, and Ahmed Hassan, 18, face various charges including, possessing property obtained by crime, unauthorized possession of a vehicle and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

Both are scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Ottawa police at 613-236-1222, ext. 3566 or Crime Stoppers at 613-233-TIPS.
