Ottawa firefighters were called to a home at 1200 Carp Rd. in Stittsville around 4 a.m. Wednesday morning.
The home was consumed by heavy flames and thick smoke when emergency crews arrived.
Two men, one wheelchair-bound, were found outside the home. Ottawa firefighters say a man was able to rescue his physically impaired father. The father was taken to hospital with minor smoke inhalation and was treated for a pre-existing medical condition.
The fire was brought under control at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.
A preliminary investigation suggests the fire began in one of the rear bedrooms but an exact cause is not yet known.
The blaze caused an estimated $350 thousand in damage.
