Ottawa police have arrested two suspects in separate robberies, including a theft from an 83-year-old woman.

The woman was attacked near Carling Avenue at Grenon Avenue on Thursday. She was pushed to the ground and lost personal effects, but was not injured.

Abdifatah Aden, 27, is charged with robbery and assaulting a police officer with the intent to resist arrest.

Aden was remanded into police custody after an initial court appearance.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Ahmed Degady of Ottawa was charged with robbery, assault, uttering threats, possession of a weapon, and breach of probation after a ByWard Market incident early Sunday morning.

A lone male suspect accosted a victim and demanded money. Witnesses intervened and the man fled the scene in a vehicle before being arrested.

The victim suffered minor injuries.

Degady was held for a show cause hearing and will appear in court again on Wednesday.
