The Ottawa Police Service Guns and Gangs Unit have charged two men in connection to the shooting of October 2, 2016 on George Street .

Ayanle Siad, 28 years old, and Edgar Casseus, 31 years old, both of Ottawa are charged jointly with:

  • Attempted Murder contrary to Sec. 239 (1) of the Criminal Code
  • Using a firearm carelessly contrary to Sec. 86(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession a weapon dangerous to the public peace contrary to Sec. 88(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm without holding a licence contrary to Sec. 91(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence to Sec. 91(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm contrary to Sec. 94 of the Criminal Code
  • Possession of a loaded regulated firearm contrary to Sec. 95(2) of the Criminal Code

Edgar Casseus is also charged with:

  • Pointing a firearm contrary to Sec. 87(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Carrying a concealed firearm contrary to Sec. 90(1) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession a firearm while prohibited contrary to Sec. 117.01(3) of the Criminal Code
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance (crack cocaine) contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance (amphetamine) contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
  • Possession of a schedule II substance (marijuana) contrary to Sec. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Failure to comply with a judicial release x 4 contrary to Sec. 145(3) of the Criminal Code

Ayanle Siad is also charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance (crack cocaine) contrary to Sec. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance (cocaine) contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance (crack cocaine) contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking a schedule I substance (ecstasy) contrary to Sec. 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Possession of a Schedule II substance (marijuana) contrary to Sec. 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and substances Act

Siad was arrested on October 3rd, 2016 and has been held in custody pending a show cause hearing on October 20th, 2016. Casseus was arrested on October 17th, 2016, was also held in custody for a Show Cause hearing on October 18th, 2016.
