A man and woman were taken to hospital after a serious collision between their car and a tractor trailer near Renfrew.
The crash happened around 10:30 Wednesday night on Highway 17.
Ontario Provincial Police say the vehicle crossed the centre line and crash head-on into an oncoming transport truck.
Both occupants of the car had to be cut from the wreck by firefighters. The male driver was rushed to Ottawa hospital by Ornge air ambulance. He suffered serious injuries. His female passenger is in more stable condition in hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.
Highway 17 was closed for several hours as police investigated but has since reopened.
