Two children have died in an early morning house fire in Thurso, Quebec, about 40 minutes east of Ottawa.

Quebec Police confirm two sisters, 3 and 8 years old died in the blaze. The father and a 12 year old sister are in critical condition. The mother of the family, three other children and a family friend are in hospital.

The alarm at 228 rue Lacroix sounded just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, Apr. 17, 2013.

Six other people, three adults and three children were rushed to hospital.

Firefighters were finally able to search the interior of the home at around 9 a.m.

They confirmed the discovery of two bodies.
