Ottawa Police have charged two men with a number of offences following a swarming on a path in Tunney’s Pasture Tuesday night.
Police say a man and a woman were walking around 9:45 p.m. when they were confronted by four men, at least one of them armed with a knife.
The suspects demanded the man give up his backpack and he was then pushed to the ground and assaulted, police say.
The woman’s purse was also stolen.
The male victim was treated for a laceration in hospital and released.
Patrol officers, along with a canine officer, located a blood trail and forcibly entered an apartment unit on Carruthers Avenue, police say.
Five people within the apartment were arrested. One of them was found to have a laceration and was treated in hospital.
Three of those arrested were interviewed and released without charges.
Anthony Pike, 21, and Emmanuel Gutteridge, 23, are jointly charged with the following offences:
- Two counts of robbery
- Possession of a weapon
- Assault cause bodily harm
Pike is also charged with:
- Obstruct peace officer
- Uttering threats
- Breach of probation
Emmanuel Gutteridge is separately charged with assault peace officer.
