A normally quiet community in west Quebec is reeling after the bodies of a man and woman were found outside a home in Waltham, about 130 kilometres northwest of Ottawa.

Quebec provincial police are calling the deaths 'suspicious' and have sealed off a one-kilometre radius around a home on Dempsey Road where police found two bodies after a neighbour reported hearing loud noises at about 4 a.m. Monday.

Although police aren't confirming who the victims are, neighbours say the couple lived in the home with their son.

"There's a third person who are meet by the investigators right now at the station. He's a member of that family too but we don't know what he saw or if he's implicated in that story," Const. Melanie Larouche of the Quebec Provincial Police told CTV Ottawa.

Those who were close to the family are especially disturbed by the grisly discovery.

"It's an awful shock really. I don't expect to hear that," said Barry Harkins, who says he knew the family well.

Autopsies on the bodies are scheduled to be conducted on Tuesday. In the meantime, police are continuing their investigation.
