Was the deadly bus crash that killed 6 last September caused by human error or mechanical failure? That's what the Transportation Safety Board is trying to figure out. While the investigation is not complete, the TSB can now say a part in the braking system was not behind the crash. "It in no way would adversely affect the brakes, " says Rob Johnston, lead investigator for the TSB.
The safety of the double decker braking system is being questioned. But the TSB lead investigator says the brake component in question isn't a safety issue.
OC Transpo says mechanics raised flags about one of the brakes parts months before the crash. The mechanics cautioned the brakes wore out too quickly.
OC Transpo says it addressed the issue immediately. " (The roller) is not a defect. It never compromised safety."
