Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the drowning of a 28-year-old Toronto man in the Ottawa River in Renfrew County Saturday.

Officers responded to Wilderness Tours, a whitewater rafting operation in Foresters Falls about two hours west of Ottawa, at about 6 p.m. Saturday after an unresponsive man was pulled from the water.

Staff from Wilderness Tours and paramedics performed CPR but the man was declared dead on the scene.

Police identified him as Thang Duc Ngo of North York.

Ngo had been rafting with friends at Wilderness Tours before they went for a swim near Miami Beach, a popular sandy area away from the normal rafting route.

Foul play is not suspected and a post-mortem will be conducted.
