Tomatoes 'turning into sauce' on Hwy. 401 near Kingston following early morning crash, OPP says

A transport truck carrying tomatoes flipped onto its side on Highway 401 in the Kingston area, "quickly turning into tomato sauce."

Highway 401 was closed for several hours on Wednesday east of Gardiners Road following a collision involving the tractor-trailer.

"Crews are working to unload the cargo of tomatoes, which is quickly turning into tomato sauce," Ontario Provincial Police said on X.

A photo posted on social media showed two heavy tow trucks working to move the transport truck back onto its wheels.

The truck driver was treated for minor injuries. 

The highway reopened to traffic just after 12 p.m. Wednesday
