A two-year-old boy is in hospital with serious chest injuries after he fell five metres from his bedroom window onto the driveway.

Ottawa paramedics say the child was conscious when they arrived at the scene just after 7 a.m. Tuesday.

Paramedics say the child's parents were in another room on the second-floor of their Mark Avenue townhouse when they heard a loud sound in their son's bedroom.

They rushed to the room and noticed the screen had been pushed out of his window, according to paramedics. Their son was sitting on the driveway crying.

Paramedics treated the child for serious chest and facial injuries. He was transferred to the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario in stable condition.
