Day care workers at three Ottawa YMCA-YWCA centres are on strike today.
Despite ongoing negotiations, an agreement has not been reached with the union representing licensed child care staff.
Today, picketers are outside three local Y's including the taggart family-Y, the ruddy family-Y and the avalon centre.
It's a one-day strike affecting 229 children.
The workers say low wages and working conditions are the issue.
Interim staff have been hired to keep the centres open during the labour disruption and the centres will re-open tomorrow.
