One person was sent to hospital after fire in Gloucester on Wednesday evening.

District Cheif Paul Fortin says the resident of one of the units of the house on Eastvale Avenue suffered burns to his head after trying to put the fire out himself with a garden hose. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Witnesses say the fire started in the back yard and quickly spread to the rest of the house. Fire crews had to deal with small fire where the gas line to the house had broken. It continued to burn until crews from Enbridge turned the gas off to the house.

Three people will be displaced from one unit, while two others won't be ablet to return to the adjoining unit. Damage is estimated at $400,000.The cause of the fire is under investigation.

In Nepean, two people were treated by paramedics but not taken to the hospital after a fire on Henfield Avenue. Damage there is estimated at $175,000. And in Stittsville, firefighters battled a blaze on Maestro Avenue. The house was empty and no one was injured. The cause of that fire is also under investigation.
