Three Renfrew teenagers were killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 17 Tuesday in the town of Hagar about half an hour away from Sudbury, Ont.

The collision took place just before 6 p.m between a Jeep and a Ford minivan carrying the Renfrew teens. An Ontario Provincial Police investigation found that the van crossed the centre line and slammed into the jeep.

Keegan Melville, 18, and Zabrina Rekowski, 19, both of Renfrew were killed.

Hillary Afelski, the driver of the vehicle the teens were riding in, was transported to hospital in critical condition. She died Wednesday afternoon.

Melville's younger brother Liam said Keegan, who was a talented musician, got along with everyone and will be dearly missed.

The fourth occupant of the vehicle, Emily Olmstead, 19, was hospitalized after the crash. She is expected to recover.

The teens were on their way back to university after spending their holidays at home in Renfrew. Wednesday would have been their first day back in class.

The two people in the second vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, were transported to hospital with serious injuries.
