CTV News learned Thursday, the City of Ottawa has reached a tentative agreement with a union representing about 6,300 workers.

City officials say the deal was reached with CUPE 503 after 20 days of negotiations. Employees have been working without a contract since 2012 started. The last one expired on December 31, 2011.

The details of the deal being offered to this group representing 37 per cent of the City's workforce have not been disclosed.

They are being kept under wraps until ratification by the membership and city council.

CUPE 503 president Brian Madden says he will likely present members with the deal later next month.
