Thousands of people who bought half-price gas cards are now wondering if they’re ever going to get what they paid for.

Your City Deals said it couldn’t deliver 9,600 $100 Petro Canada gas cards it sold for $49 because it “exceeded sales,” posting the notification on its Facebook page.

Andrew Childerose said he feels like both his and the company’s reputation are tarnished after he told everyone he knew about the deal.

“I kind of feel like I’ve been taken advantage of, in a sense,” he said. “I kind of look like an idiot now, don’t I?”

Hours after Your City Deals said it couldn’t honour the gas deal, it posted on Facebook that it had secured $50 million in financing.

“This announcement just kicks everyone in the groin for the second time,” commented Chris Rochon on the post.

“Ballsy posting this now,” said James Penny on Facebook.

Petro Canada said the deal had nothing to do with them, as Your City Deals was basically re-selling gift cards.

Your City Deals said PayPal held their funds, which forced them to backpedal on the offer.

A request to comment on camera was refused by Your City Deals, and a promised statement has not yet arrived.
