The Ottawa REDBLACKS football team is set to kick-off at TD Place Friday, July 18, 2014.
“We want to take the fan experience to the next level” says OSEG Vice President of Communications and Fan Experience Randy Burgess.
To make the fan experience a memorable one, hundreds of workers will spend the final hours primping and polishing the stadium for the home opener.
On game day the pre-party starts at 4:00pm outside Lansdowne Park’s Aberdeen Pavillion. Canadian rockers The Trews perform at 5:00pm before the game kicks off at 7:00pm.
If you are one of the lucky ones who have tickets to the sold out home-opener, you will get a piece of REDBLACKS memorabilia to mark the historic event. Burgess promises it will be a keepsake but won’t say what it is “I really don’t want to let the cat out of the bag; I want to keep it a surprise.”
There will also be a half-time show celebrating Ottawa’s rich football history with special guests like former Ottawa Rough Riders star Russ Jackson.
And if you’re looking forward to stadium food there will be lots to choose from “We have created some specialty dishes that we hope fans will be excited about.” Levy Restaurant’s Regional Chef Jonathan Williams told CTV.
Some of the mouthwatering dishes include slow smoked pork, slow smoked brisket and several twists on poutine. The TD Place hot dog also has a twist. The signature dog is on a buttered bun and toasted to perfection. The REDBLACK Dog is topped with a 14-hour slow smoked brisket and a signature pepper relish.
If you don’t have tickets to the game you can still join the party. A Pep Rally will be held outside Ottawa City Hall on Thursday July 17, 2014. Lunch will be offered at Marion Dewar Plaza, the band Blackwell will take the stage, the REDBLACK cheer squad will put on a show and some REDBLACK players including Quarterback Henry Burris will be there to sign autographs.
