Ottawa Police are investigating after an Ottawa man facing terrorism related charges was beaten up in prison.

24-year-old Carlos Larmond is said to have suffered a broken hand and bruising after an alleged attack at the Innes Road jail last week.

Police say 23-year-old Terrence Wilson and 29-year-old Michael Clarke have been charged in relation to the event. They are facing charges of assault with a weapon and assault causing bodily harm.

Police say the violent incident was not related to any of the charges against Larmond.

Larmond, along with his identical twin brother, was arrested in January as part of an RCMP investigation. Carlos was arrested at Montreal’s Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport allegedly trying to board a plane. He is charged with attempting to leave Canada to participate in terrorist activity abroad, and participating in the activity of a terrorist group.

None of the charges have been proven in court.

The Larmond brothers are scheduled to appear in court again on March 16th.
