A 16-year-old boy has died after being struck by a VIA Rail train in Lancaster.

Ontario Provincial Police say three were walking on a portion of the CN Railway Bridge near Celtic Lane in South Glengarry Monday evening around 8 p.m. when two of them were struck by a train.

The boy, from Dorval, Que., was pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old from South Glengarry suffered minor injuries.

Train service along the tracks was shut down for three hours while police investigated the incident.

The OPP continues to investigate. The name of the victim has not been released.
