An Ottawa tech firm provided details Tuesday of a 70 per cent expansion of its current manufacturing space. It will allow production at the company to jump nearly 25 per cent.

Lumenera makes digital cameras for everything from security to hi-tech research and industrial applications. They currently employ 80 people.

Spokesperson Erin Densley told CTV Ottawa the company will add new staff, but she won't say how many new workers will be hired.

Lumenera has already taken over a larger part of the building they occupy in an industrial park near the Ottawa airport in order to accommodate growth.

Lumenera was bought up four years ago by U.S. conglomerate Roper Industries of Florida. Roper owns nearly 40 different companies and sales last year topped $2 billion.

Densley says Lumenera has been able to grow "because of our ability to provide customized manufacturing of cameras in four different market areas."

She adds the ability to do custom work has enabled the company to keep their global manufacturing here in Ottawa.

Renovations on the expansion are almost complete. The company expects the expansion to go into operation in the next few weeks.
