A fierce summer storm with high winds and heavy rain slammed the Town of Petawawa today in what some people say felt like a tornado.

Trees are down, some cars were flipped over,  power is off, and there are reports of the roof blown off the Petawawa Plaza.

There are no reports of injuries.

The Pembroke east end mall was also hard hit and a couple of trailers are overturned.

One employee at the Town of Petawawa says the winds were howling and the rain fell in waves.

This is the second storm to hit Petawawa in just three days.

Ottawa and Eastern Ontario remain under a tornado watch.

Environment Canada says a cold front is rapidly moving through the region triggering vicious storms.

The Ottawa area also remains under a tornado watch as of mid afternoon Friday.
