BELLEVILLE, Ont. - Daniil Zharkov had two goals and Malcolm Subban made 35 saves for the Belleville Bulls Wednesday night as they beat the Kingston Frontenacs 4-2 in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brady Austin and Michael Curtis scored the other goals for Belleville (17-9-0).

Ryan Spooner and Spencer Green scored for Kingston (7-16-4), while Igor Bobkov made 28 saves in the loss.

Belleville opened the scoring at 1:58 of the first period as Zharkov received a cross-ice pass from Adam Payerl and scored his sixth goal of the season.

Kingston tied it up before the first period was over when a shot from the point was tipped by Spooner and over Subban's shoulder.

Zharkov got his second of the game in the second period to put the Bulls back up one when he skated across the blue-line and let a hard wrist shot go after cutting to the middle of the slot.

Austin got the eventual winner midway through the third with his first of the season on a low wrist shot.

Green's goal in the final five minutes of play made things interesting, but Belleville hung on with some outstanding saves from Subban, who is the current Canadian Hockey League goaltender of the week.

Curtis rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal.

The two teams will meet in Kingston Friday night for the second half of their home-and-home.
