Paramedics say a 14-year-old student fell through the ice of a pond used to collect storm water and prevent flooding.

It happened at about 10:40 Tuesday morning near Innes and Trim Road.

Paramedics say they arrived at the scene to find the teenaged boy in the care of two teachers. The boy was conscious and had been completely submerged.

Paramedics say the boy managed to swim out of the pond by himself.

He is at the hospital in stable condition.
