TORONTO - Environment Canada says it has received reports of a tornado in central Ontario.

Storm spotters have reported a tornado near Lake Couchiching around 5:10 p.m. and forecasters say it was moving east at 65 km/h.

A tornado warning has been issued for areas including Fenelon Falls, northern Kawartha Lakes, Orillia, and Washago.

Environment Canada calls it a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation.

Emergency Management Ontario recommends people in the area take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches.
