A police uniform and firearm are missing after an unmarked police vehicle was recovered about 12 hours after it was stolen from outside a home in eastern Ontario.

Although the vehicle was recovered, a secured lock-box containing a 40-calibre Sig Sauer firearm, three rounds of ammunition, handcuffs and pepper spray are missing from the trunk of the vehicle.

A provincial police uniform and police body armour are also missing.

OPP located the vehicle on Alice Street in Cornwall at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday. The vehicle was stolen from outside an officer's home in Long Sault, Ont. at about 1:30 a.m.

Provincial police say a thief who broke into the officer's home early this morning got her car keys and made off with her cruiser.
