Ottawa Police officers drew their guns Friday morning during a pursuit of a stolen milk truck which crashed into a number of vehicles before the driver was arrested.

Police say the low-speed pursuit began in the New Edinburgh area and ended in Lowertown near Cathcart and Cumberland street but not before several cars were damaged including two police cruisers.

The truck driver was in the back when it took off. He was tossed around but is okay.

One witness told CTV Ottawa: " I went out to look and saw that a truck had just been stopped after being rammed multiple times, leaving a trail of destruction (and dairy products) in its wake. It also travelled in the oncoming lane of King Edward avenue, striking multiple cars there too"

A 32-year-old man is facing charges of robbery and theft. The Ottawa Police Robbery Unit says additional charges could be forthcoming.
