An Ottawa woman who was beaten with a baseball bat by her husband in their Stittsville home last week has died in hospital.
Theresa Lefebvre had been in a medically-induced coma since being rushed to the hospital in critical condition April 11.
Police responded to the home on Hartsmere Drive last Wednesday after receiving a call from Peter Lefebvre who told dispatchers that he had killed his wife.
He then fled the scene. His body was found hours later in the Stony Swamp Conservation area after a massive manhunt.
The Lefebvres were in the midst of a difficult divorce and had recently put their home up for sale. Police had been called there in March after receiving a report of a domestic dispute.
No charges were laid in that incident.
Sources told CTV News that Theresa Lefebvre was afraid of her husband and that he had been abusive towards her. Peter Lefebvre's family denied the claims saying that he was a good husband and said he was suffering from depression. In March, he spent ten days in hospital being treated for the mental illness.
Theresa died on the same day that a wake was held for Peter Lefebvre.
The couple are survived by two sons, Kyle and Nicholas. The boys are 12 and 15-years-old.
The family of Theresa Lefebvre has decided to donate her organs to help save the lives of others.
