New houses springing up in Richmond could aggravate an already smelly issue in the village, say local residents.

They discussed this problem at a community meeting Saturday to examine the impact a new housing development will have on the village.

With 2,000 more houses on the way, residents say they aren't sure if the sewer line -- which stinks already -- can handle the extra load as it pumps waste from Munster and Richmond to Ottawa.

Well water quality and village traffic problems are also pegged as potential problems.
