A 19-year-old Kingston man faces assault and breach of probation charges after an alleged attack on a baseball umpire.

Police say Kyle Pyke lost his temper when he hit the ball to first base and was called out at a baseball diamond in Kingston Tuesday night.

The umpire told police Pyke's rage caused him to swear and led him to punch the umpire twice in the head. The umpire suffered swelling above the eye and in the neck area.

Pyke was thrown out of the game and arrested in the parking lot.

The incident took place at the Woodbine Park Baseball Diamond on Woodbine Road.
