Excessive speed and alcohol were not determined factors in a horrific crash that killed two teens in south Ottawa over the weekend.
David Stringer, 17, and his 18-year-old passenger Jonathan Jackson were killed when their four-door Pontiac Sunfire collided with a Hyundai Santa Fe on Albion Road at about 7:45 p.m. Saturday.
Stringer's father Doug says the family is not looking to lay blame.
"I knew his faith was strong and that was the part that spoke the loudest about him," said Christina Stringer, David's sister. "That's what I want others to remember."
"He always put anyone else first, always about making sure everyone was okay," said Thomas Stringer, David's brother. "Same with Jonathan, they were both amazing guys."
Being Remembered
The two teens were on their way to a movie. Paramedics say both suffered critical multi-system trauma when their vehicle was broadsided and crumpled about one kilometre south of the Rideau Carleton Raceway.
The teens were pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has brought in tragic response teams for David and Jonathan's high schools.
A makeshift memorial of flowers also honours the teens at the site of the crash.
Four people in the other vehicle were hurt, two of them seriously injured.
