Many western Quebec families will likely need to find alternate ways to school after a local school board confirmed two school bus companies are going on strike.

The Western Quebec School Board said Friday that Bigras Transport and Autobus LaSalle will be going on strike on Monday, barring a last-minute agreement.

The strike would mean 20,000 students from that board, Draveurs, Portages-de-L'Outaouais and Hauts-Bois-de-L'Outaouais would have to find another way to school.

A third company has also voted to strike.

All schools will remain open during the strike, with additional supervision before and after school to be provided.

The boards said it will be up to parents to get children to and from school as long as the strike lasts.
