Those with cars parked on city streets should beware of the possibility of getting towed.

Emergency towing will be underway Thursday night to remove snow in the area bounded by Island Park Drive, Carling Avenue, Rideau River, Donald Street and St. Laurent Boulevard.

This area includes Carleton University.

Deputy City Manager Richard Hewitt says the towing will be in effect to make room for emergency and other vehicles.

Residents of the area, including those who hold street parking permits, are being asked not to park on the street.

City officials say they don't have time to warn people about the towing with signs.

Residents whose cars have been towed can phone 311 to find out where to pick up their vehicle.

The parking restrictions will be in effect Thursday at 7 p.m. until further notice.
