Nobody was injured after fire gutted the basement of a south Ottawa home overnight.
Ottawa firefighters said they were called to 5509 South Island Park Drive in Manotick just before midnight Friday.
The homeowner had heard her smoke detector and got everyone out of the home, according to police.
When firefighters arrived they found heavy smoke in the basement but were able to save the home.
They said there was extensive damage to the basement and smoke damage to the other two floors, causing a total of $125,000 damage to the building and $25,000 to its contents.
The cause is believed to be accidental.
