Fire at the exterior of an office building 1870 Alta Vista Drive filled the inside with smoke, shutting it down for the day.
Fire broke out just before 7:00am. Flames did not enter the building but smoke caused more than 300-thousand dollars damage on the second floor. The five storey building is home to MD Physicians Services Inc.
There are no reports of injury. There were no workers inside at the time of the fire. Employees are being advised to work from home for the day.
Ottawa fire crews are still on scene ventilating the rooms and dealing with damage to a steam pipe affected by the fire.
