There doesn’t appear to be any major injuries after a single-engine plane crashed on takeoff at east Ottawa's Rockcliffe airport Friday morning.

Fire officials said the plane sustained major wing damage after crashing into a fence around 10:20 a.m., trying to take off and skipping along the runway.

They said the the lone female pilot got out on her own and is being checked by paramedics.

Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Marc Messier tweeted that crews are also cleaning a small fuel spill.
