Mild conditions on Wednesday, including slushy snow that made it difficult for commuters to make their way, kept the Canal closed after the National Capital Commission first shut it down Tuesday night.

The "negative impact" on the ice will keep the world's largest skateway shuttered until further notice, which could be several days given the bout of mild weather hitting the region.

Around two to four centimetres were expected to fall on Wednesday. A rain and snow mix will come on Thursday, progressing into rain by Friday.
