A Hawkesbury man is among six people charged after a string of violent offences east of Ottawa.

Hawkesbury's Maurice France, 39, was arrested along with six others after months of investigation into armed robberies, home invasions, and break and enters. The incidents took place in Champlain Township, Ont., Hawkebury, Ont., Vankleek Hill, Ont., Mirabel, Que., Brownsburg-Chatham, Que., and Lachute, Que.

Police say all the incidents were violent in nature.

To solve the crimes, Ontario Provincial Police, Mirabel Police and Surete du Quebec joined forces to investigate the suspects between November and January.

The Hawkesbury man is the only suspect arrested from Ontario. Police list the others as being from Brownsburg-Chatham, Que. One man is still on the run.

An arrest warrant is outstanding for 32-year-old Pascal Normand of Lachute, Que. Police say he is dangerous and should not be approached.

Further charges are pending.
