Large hail and flooding were reported south-west of Ottawa as a severe thunderstorm rumbled through the region Saturday evening.

Parts of Barrhaven near Holitman Drive were flooded after fallen leaves covered storm drains in the streets.

"On my street, which is just around the corner, the water was up to about a foot and a half. It was also starting to come in to our basement windows that are a couple of inches below," said Barrhaven resident, Dorothy Peck.

Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm around 7 p.m. Saturday night. The storm produced frequent lightening, downpours, hail and very strong winds throughout the region.
