A 27-year-old Ottawa woman who killed her newborn son will have to remain under bail conditions and wait until August to hear fate.
Angela Kuehl pleaded guilty in February to infanticide - a Criminal Code charge applied to mothers who kill their newborns while under severe emotional distress.
Kuehl admitted to asphyxiating baby Noah immediately after giving birth in her Kanata home in April 2007. She had hidden the pregnancy from her family, friends, and boyfriend.
On Tuesday a judge delayed sentencing until Aug. 25. Crown and defence lawyers agreed on a one-year house arrest, but the judge wanted more time to study the facts.
Those convicted of Infanticide rarely serve jail time.
Kuehl was charged in October 2007 after a five-month investigation into her son's death.
Police were alerted to the situation after Kuehl went to the Ottawa Hospital, suffering from child birth complications. Officials, however, could not find the baby's body.
