Ottawa Senators Captain Daniel Alfredsson is not expected to play in game 5 of the team's playoff series against the New York Rangers.

The team traveled to New York City on Friday afternoon without Alfredsson and forward Jesse Winchester who was injured in game four.

Alfredsson sustained a concussion in Game 2 after a hit from Carl Hagelin. He has not played since then.

Hagelin has served a three game suspension for the hit. He returns to the Rangers lineup for Saturday's game at Madison Square Garden.

The series is tied 2-2.

Even without the Sens' captain in action, Ottawa fans are bursting with excitement.

Krista Sheahan's baby is due on Saturday, the same day the Sens face the Rangers in game 5.

"Its kind of perfect for us…it will be the perfect way for her to see us go to the next round," she said while shopping for Sens baby clothes.

"They don't give up, they don't let go, they keep going and going!" said diehard fan Sandy Ashford.

She was at the Pro Hockey Life sports store in Ottawa on Friday, choosing a jersey to wear at Scotiabank Place when then series returns on Monday evening.

She was willing to shell out $279 for a Sens jersey to show her support for the team.

Randy Albrecht, a Florida resident visiting Ottawa, is also swept up in the Senators fever.

"I love to be a part of this down here right now, I wish I could stick around for game 6," he said.

All the fan support is not lost on the team.

"They were great the other night, the two home games they made an awful lot of noise, and I think that was a really big factor especially in game 4 to win the game so they're a big part of it," Senators coach Paul MacLean said.

Many Ottawa fans are heading to New York City for Saturday evening's game.

The puck drops at 7 pm.
