The Ottawa Senators have announced some major changes to their coaching staff this morning.  Head coach Dave Cameron is gone, along with assistant coaches André Tourigny and Rick Wamsley. Assistant coach Jason Smith will no longer be involved in coaching but has been offered another position within the organization. Ottawa Senators GM Pierre Dorion will speak with reporters at 12:30 to discuss the changes.

57-year-old Dave Cameron took over as head coach in December of 2014, after 3 seasons as assistant coach. Tourigny joined the Senators coaching staff 6 months later, coming from the Colorado Avalanche. And Wamsley, a former NHL goaltender, was hired by the club in July of 2010.

After a miraculous run in the playoffs last year, the Senators failed to make the playoffs this year. The changes come just days after Bryan Murray announced he was stepping aside as General Manager.  Dorion was named as the team’s new GM.
