A campaign by Maxville residents to keep their local Scotiabank branch open has paid off.

Scotiabank has reversed an earlier decision and will keep the Maxville branch open.

The bank had plans to close those three branches east of Ottawa and switch accounts to Cassleman.

Scotiabank says the Avonmore branch will be closed with services transferred to Chesterville in April 2014.

The St. Isidore branch will close and customer accounts will be swtiched to a brand new bank now being built  in Cassleman for January 2014.

"We always said that we were holding town halls to listen to the community and that's what we did", stated Karine Abgrail, Scotiabank District Vice-President
