There's a new home Friday for Bruy�re Continuing Care, formerly known to as the SCO Health Service, which is credited for providing some of the best continuous care in Canada.
The umbrella organization cares for more than 2,500 patients and focuses on compassionate, supportive care. Its work is being celebrated through a re-branding campaign that pays tribute to its founder Mother Elisabeth Bruy�re .
"Mother Bruy�re came here and she was a tie in here, essentially in developing new services. And that's what, in many respects, we've been doing for the last 163 years," said Jean Bartkowiak, CEO of Bruy�re Continuing Care.
In honour of the organization's history of excellent care -- and its future under its new name -- Mayor Larry O'Brien proclaimed Sept. 12 as Elisabeth Bruy�re Day in Ottawa.
