A school board committee voted overwhelmingly Monday to keep Rideau High School open for another school year.

The committee voted 10-1 in favour of keeping the school open. The decision must still be approved by the full Ottawa-Carleton District School Board next week.

The school -- which has a history in Ottawa dating back to 1958 -- has been struggling with declining enrollment for years.

One school board trustee is now pushing to invest in the school to make it more attractive to potential students.
