Salvation Army workers took their protest to the office of an Ottawa businessman Tuesday as their strike hit the 60-day mark.

Picketers were at Holland Cross near the office of Graham Bird. Bird is a member of the Salvation Army advisory board.

They say their goal is to sway Bird to take their side in the dispute.

Salvation Army management has offered striking workers a 7.5 per cent pay increase over three years, along with signing bonuses, and additional bereavement and vacation days.

Workers have rejected the deal even though their union leadership recommended acceptance.

The employees say even with the increase they would still be living below the poverty line.
